Food, Dietary & Allergy Disclaimer

Effective September 2, 2026

Dinner Found lets you save dietary restrictions, allergies, preferences, and dislikes for people in your household and uses that information to personalize recipe recommendations. This page explains the limits of that feature.

Important: Not a Guarantee

Dinner Found's dietary filters and family preferences are intended to provide helpful guidance, not a guarantee of safety.

Saving a dietary restriction or allergy does not guarantee that every recommendation will be free from the relevant ingredient, allergen, or risk. Dinner Found cannot guarantee that any recipe is safe for someone with an allergy, food intolerance, medical condition, or medically prescribed diet.

  • •Ingredients, labels, formulations, and manufacturing practices can change. Cross-contact can occur during manufacturing, preparation, cooking, or serving. Suggested substitutions may also introduce ingredients or risks that require review.
  • •You must independently verify ingredients, labels, manufacturer information, preparation methods, and potential cross-contact before preparing or serving food to anyone with an allergy, intolerance, medical condition, or medically necessary diet.
  • •Dinner Found's information is not a substitute for reading the actual product label, contacting the manufacturer when appropriate, or obtaining advice from a qualified healthcare or dietary professional.

Children and Caregivers

Parents and caregivers are responsible for deciding whether a food or recipe is appropriate for a child.

For severe allergies, medically necessary diets, or other medical dietary requirements, consult an appropriate qualified healthcare or dietary professional. Dinner Found is not a medical professional and does not provide medical or dietary advice.

How Dinner Found Handles Potential Conflicts

Dinner Found will never tell you that a recipe is "allergy safe," "medically safe," or "guaranteed safe" for a particular person.

When Dinner Found identifies a potential conflict with a saved allergy or dietary restriction, it uses language such as:

"Dinner Found identified an ingredient that may conflict with this family member's saved dietary restriction. Please review the ingredients and consider the suggested modification before preparing the meal."

A potential conflict is presented as a reason to review the recipe, not as a determination that the recipe is unsafe or safe.

Dislikes, Preferences, Restrictions, and Allergies Are Different

These settings should be treated differently:

  • •Dislike: A taste or ingredient someone simply does not enjoy. Dinner Found may treat this softly — for example, by suggesting that the ingredient be left out or served on the side when practical.
  • •Preference: Something a person generally enjoys or chooses to avoid. Preferences are used to personalize recommendations but are not necessarily hard exclusions.
  • •Dietary Restriction: A dietary limit that should be treated as a hard filter when suggesting recipes.
  • •Allergy or Medical Dietary Requirement: Dinner Found treats these settings seriously and uses them to restrict recommendations where possible. However, saving an allergy or medical dietary requirement is still not a safety guarantee. The user must independently verify the recipe and ingredients before preparing or serving the food.
